Perhaps Mr. Musk is just bored and entertaining himself by playing games that only ultra billionaires can play. We likely err by assigning a political motive to Mr. Musk’s gamesmanship. The chase is more exciting than the conquest.
I have said all along there is a good chance this deal never goes through..for a myriad of reasons..one of which you hit upon.

I could see him getting himself a new game to play. Being a bit Aspergers myself, you do NOT want someone like Musk getting bored. He WILL find a way to amuse himself.
