I had to check as I remember I was 12 or 13 when that came out. Back then I would have never guessed he was pissing on the flag. After learning about his politics later did I know he was pissing on the flag figuratively. What’s the real story with this album cover? I always assumed they were treating Bruce like a hearthrob and wanted to garner more female fans by showing his rear end on the cover.

the flag is not what he was thinking about putting on the cover because of the way it could be co-opted

i think this is folk lore that he is peeing on the flag
