Blue Oyster Cult: Then Came the Last Days of May

I was a huge Yardbirds fan. Remember them in the movie Blowup with Jimmy and Jeff Beck dual lead guitars? Train Kept a Rolling. I liked them as much as the Rolling Stones. The Animals came in 3rd. I saw Eric Burden circa 1980 and he put on a great show in a large club. With lots of old Animals tunes. Then in 2004 again...but he was jazzing up the old Animals tunes too much

Yeah, I saw their segment of Blow Up on TV years ago, had never heard of that movie or their performance in it, but recognized the lineup immediately. They’re my favorite band from the 60s. When it comes to British blues, they were better than the Stones, whom they replaced as the house band when the Stones got their record deal and started touring (can’t remember the club name). Of course, they didn’t have a stable lineup, and I think Relf had a substance abuse problem, and they weren’t quite the same level of songwriters as the Glimmer Twins...
Same here for The Yardbirds. Their records had avant-garde tunes on them. I actually did see them live but it was in their last incarnation with Jimmy Page as their sole guitarist. They broke up maybe 6 months later. The show was not that memorable due to the sparse instrumentation. Basically, a power trio with Keith Relf singing. I was enthused at finally seeing them.
But Jimmy Page did pull out his cello bow and used it on his guitar on one tune. This was a famous shtick of his with early Led Zepplin, of course.

Here’s an update from Norm’s daughter Sarah Edwards:
I sat with my dad and read through a bunch of the comments. We were blown away by all of the love and support. My dad tells me that when you go through something like this, you feel isolated but reading through your messages was encouraging.
As expected - he’s having good days and bad days. Yesterday was rough and he was being hard on himself because he’s frustrated by the slow progress and he would like to get out of the ICU. Today is going well and watching Guitar of the Day always makes him feel more at home.
People keep asking me about the type of cancer he has and it’s called Appendiceal Neoplasms. Evidently, it accounts for less than 1% of all cancers.
During the surgery, they removed his appendix, spleen, part of his colon and part of his small intestine.
We are so thankful for Dr. Alexandra Gangi and all of the doctors and nurses taking such great care of him! And thank you again for all of the sweet comments!Thank You from Norm & A few great moments at Norman's Rare Guitars
