The word billion is simply too benign. It is a number that is just too hard to envision. 1 billion equals 1000 million. Most people have a good concept of $1 million but not of $1 billion. $40 billion equals 40,000 gifts of 1 million dollars each
Imagine a lottery with a total payoff of one billion dollars. One housand different people could each get one million dollars.

I saw a picture of a pallet of $1 billion, in $100 dollar bills. It is staggering. I would love to know how many TRILLIONS of dollars have been ripped off from American taxpayers.
To me, $1M doesn’t have the impact it used to. Heck, an fairly ordinary home up here is $1M....so $40M is peanuts when talking about funding a war (wink, wink, or paying extortion to a crooked bunch of oligarchs).
Imagine seeing the trillions of dollars in debt that’s been accumulated. I hope when President Trump returns that he erases a massive amount of the Chinese debt, just as a little “thank you” for the Wuhan virus.

Trump moves to officially withdraw U.S. from World Health Organization
Washington — President Trump has taken the first formal step toward withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization, a move that comes as countries around the globe continue to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic that has claimed the lives of more than 540,000 people worldwide.
A senior administration official told CBS News that the administration has submitted a notice of withdrawal, which will be effective July 6, 2021, to the United Nations secretary-general, who is the depositary for the WHO. Withdrawing from the organization requires a one-year notice before becoming final.
Democratic Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey said Congress has received notification of the withdrawal. Menendez, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, lambasted the move, tweeting that to call Mr. Trump’s “response to COVID chaotic & incoherent doesn’t do it justice.”
United Nations Foundation President and CEO Elizabeth Cousens called termination of the U.S. relationship with the WHO “short-sighted, unnecessary and unequivocally dangerous.”
“W.H.O. is the only body capable of leading and coordinating the global response to COVID-19,” she said in a statement. “Terminating the U.S. relationship would undermine the global effort to beat this virus – putting all of us at risk.”

At least up to a few years ago, the British did not use the term billion when talking about money. They preferred “thousand million”. It’s too easy to think of 1 billion as 2 million just as a bicycle has two wheels and 1 trillion sounds like 3 million just as a tricycle has three wheels. The numbers billion and trillion are just so enormous.
