Strange part is rich people are depressed much more often than poor people in poor countries who struggle every day just to get food.
Benjamin Franklin said, "The poor man must work to find the food for his stomach. The rich man must work to find the stomach for his food."
you answered your own thought.
“poor” people spend their life trying to survive—they dont have the “luxury” or time for depression and mental illness—and if they are truly mentally ill, they generally wont survive in the herd for too long.
“rich” people spend their life trying to justify their existence leaving a lot more room for “thoughts” to get into their heads, spiraling into full blown mental illness.
I’ll sum it all up with a rough quote from William Holden’s last movie (i think), The Earthling:
“If you ain’t surviving, then you’re dying.”
Or something like that!
It’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to reach the kingdom of God.
All the ‘stuff’ ends up owning you. It’s stressful and expensive to be rich and you worry constantly about losing it all
That is a little misleading because I remember hearing DJ's on the radio when they first started out saying she was a divorced homeless mother with two young children. It may have been intentional to travel where the fame could be found, but that is what they said at the time.
Likely a chemical imbalance depression. I know what that’s like. That’s very difficult to deal with and overcome, and has nothing to do with a person’s wealth.
