I want to believe Musk’s self-assessment. I’m not ruling it out because he’s going to be 51 this year. Winston Churchill said if you’re not a liberal in your 20’s, you have no heart, and if you’re not a conservative on your 40’s, you have no brain. Musk’s move to the right might be that natural tendency, combined with the fact that the left has moved SO far left that the centre and left of centre have effectively moved to the right. His self-label is encouraging, but I’m taking the Reagan approach of “trust but verify”.

The only moving parts are the media controlled definition of “center” and the leftists.
