(snip)And it’s easy to slip into the mindset that since Twitter is obviously such an important utility for public discourse, Musk owes us all something. And while we’re all grateful for and hopeful about his recent moves, it’d be foolhardy to relinquish the ground we’ve made on other platforms.
As a result of long-standing censorship, conservatives have built a number of companies – some with more efficacy than others – which deserve our support despite Twitter’s potential turn towards freedom.(snip)

Good point.
People can be all in on someone who has the guts to speak out about the most important issue we face, more than the border, more than Russian, more than Covid.
It is freedom of speech.
I personally would like some of the people bitching and equivocating about Musk to get off their lazy butts and do something themselves.
I don’t agree with his brain chip crap. I don’t agree with his mouth planted firmly on the government teat. I don’t agree with his China connections.
But if we wait around for the “right” warrior to do what is needed to turn this tyranny around, we won’t have a country.
.
Especially those FRxperts who haven’t run so much as a lemonade stand much less auto, spaceship, and satellite companies. Elon Musk has a long track record of doing the impossible and I sure as hell don’t care a fig for the opinions of those whose claim to fame is posting on the innerwebs.
LOL! BINGO! :-)
Musk-accomplishes-more-for-free-speech-in-one-afternoon-than-republicans-have-in-decades!
WORLD—According to sources, an eccentric immigrant entrepreneur from South Africa just accomplished more for free speech than Republicans have in decades of controlling the government, wielding Federal power, and spending trillions of dollars.
“Wow! Who is this guy? He’s really making us look bad here,” said one Republican Senator. “This Twitter deal is such a huge step forward for freedom of expression! Wow! Imagine if other conservative wealthy people did stuff like that instead of funding our reelection campaigns? Um, wait—I didn’t mean that. Scratch that. Are you recording this?”
“Man, why didn’t I think of doing something like that?” said the Republican Senator. “If you vote for me, I’ll form a committee after the election season to explore the reasons we didn’t think of that!”
LOL, you REALLY want to make the Leftist heads explode, tell them an “African American” is going to fight the war against the Twitter Intellegensi for Freedom of Speech!
Right? And he made a bunch of their leftards even richer. Should have let them keep it and eventually it would turn into crap all by itself. Woke to broke. Why Elan, why?
What’s the big deal?
So, I reactivate my Twitter account and play for a while.
If it doesn’t work out, I close it. This isn’t like electing a president.
I was being facetious and don’t see him coming out with the short end of the stick.
I made a vow years ago that I would never join Twitter, and I’ll be keeping that vow, mo matter who owns it. I’m not much for social networking to begin with. Never could figure out what people saw in it. I tried Parler, Gab and Gettr, and rarely used them. Deleted them all earlier this year. I’d rather sit and read a good history book than waste my time on any of those sites. FR is about all the socializing I need to do.
“The first Matrix is great.”
I haven’t seen any of them.
But on YouTube a few years back, I watched the elevator lobby shoot-out and thought “Holy.....!” The special effects were incredible and that movie came out something like 20 years ago!
Musk is doing the equivalent of being the guy you don’t trust whizzing in the punch bowl at a party filled with people you don’t like.
Yes, this has to be warping the liberals warped minds even more!:
