(snip)And it’s easy to slip into the mindset that since Twitter is obviously such an important utility for public discourse, Musk owes us all something. And while we’re all grateful for and hopeful about his recent moves, it’d be foolhardy to relinquish the ground we’ve made on other platforms.
As a result of long-standing censorship, conservatives have built a number of companies – some with more efficacy than others – which deserve our support despite Twitter’s potential turn towards freedom.(snip)

I am cautious as well. Because of what has happened with Twitter, Youtube (Alphabet Corp), Parler with Amazon, etc., the rise of Gettr, Truth Social, Gab etc. in response has been building a nacent parallel economy, something which I'm pretty sure the Deep State is aware of and would like to squelch.
What better way to pull a fast one by creating the illusion that Musk has restored free speech to Twitter, luring people back away from the other platforms, only to pull Lucy-with-the-football moment when it matters.
Now, the outrage on the Left, and sudden talk about Section 230 has all the right people in a tizzy, but caution is warranted.
I’ve been saying this all along.
People agree with Musk’s brain chip?
Even if Musk completely folds, Twitter will just be back to where it was a few days ago, but with a badly damaged brand. I don’t see much of a downside.
Why not? 81 million voters put all their eggs in BidenIdiot...../s
“Even if Musk completely folds,.....”
He wasted $Billions.
Looks like there is a rash of cautionary, deep thinkers who are piling on about not trusting Musk. Can he be any worse than the managers of the company are now? And the difference with him is that he has been/will be lynched. That is what happens now when you stick your neck out.
Certainly not, but I guarantee some nutjobs will gladly volunteer thinking they’ll become Neo from The Matrix…
I love nobodies giving business advice to the richest man on Earth…
Rush Limbaugh was the most popular show on the radio, but it was mostly just listened to by the choir.
Gab, Gettr, BitChute, Library, Odyssey, Truth Social, etc. might gain millions of followers, but most of those will be conservative.
It would be great if Trump relents and renews his Twitter account. He could use it to lure traffic onto Truth Social.
Many conservatives who have moved over to the alternative social platforms keep accounts on YouTube, Twitter, etc. where they post more normie content that encourages folks to get their more controversial musings on various alternate platforms.
There is a platform with no rules and where there is total freedom of expression for everybody. and it seems everyone on the globe has been accessing it for years and been much better off for it. It’s called the internet that has every form of information, misinformation, bots, ridicule, hate speech, virtue signaling, helpful and unhelpful advice, etc. and the amazing thing is that everyone keeps coming back...that is, except to CNN+ which is proof most people, without help from a censor with an agenda, can distinguish fact from fiction. Wonder if those who oppose Elon’s free speech absolutism would also advocate shutting down the internet. I would love to hear the book burners’ arguments for shutting it down. No, not you, President Xi.
Isn’t Neo ad the Matrix transgender now? I never saw it.
My expectations are low. However, that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the left losing their minds and revealing themselves for what they are, (again).
Elon Musk is an admirable man, but not a saint. I respect his enormous talent. Musk is in this to make money, and I have no doubt he will.
We’ll see. What if he takes it public again after going private. You never know, he could potentially double his money.
I believe Glenn Greenwald said the same thing!
The first Matrix is great. The writers or directors, biological brothers, are now both “chicks”.
I haven’t seen the newest one, and don’t like 2 or 3.
actually only $1B since the deal is not closed and not due to close for another 6+ mos
Did you see Elon's grand idea of building a subterranean hyperloop that could evacuate the New Orleans area smoothly in the face of an approaching hurricane? I like the futuristic thinking, but I know enough for that to give me pause.
he may not be able to go private at all. I believe I heard he wanted to take tesla private and the sec said no
Bump
