What a bunch of boomer romantic nonsense hahaha.
I have a 2016 Nissan and it’s the best car I’ve ever had, I love all the modern amenities. My first car was a 62 Chevy Impala with a straight 6. Yeah it looked cool, and was comfortable, but ultimately dangerous without power steering, and 4 wheel drum brakes.
Next, I had a couple different Ford Escorts, one an EXP, and in my teens they were great, but became maintenance hogs quickly. They were enough to get by. But, face it, autos have improved and I say good riddance to some of the old ways.
I agree with you. I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna that is the best car (of many) that I've ever owned. I'm sure the later models are even better than the 2015. (By the way, I'm a geezer at 75.)
Yep I remember 40 years ago bragging to a kid that they just do't make them like they used to and he said they sure don't and I am glad they don't. After working on my stuff all my life I own things that just keep on ticking. I am posting this from a 2009 MacPro that I run 24/7 and I have another that I use as a server same age, as well as several Mac Minis of the 2012 variety, I also have some new Mac Silicon machines as well as iPads that just run, I gave away a first gen iPad the other day that still runs fine.
Cars are another matter they quite easily run 100,000 an 2 or 3 even 5 hundred thousand with regular maintenance. I used to be in the auto parts business 50 years ago and it was a ritual every summer to stock up on freon, belts, hoses and tuneup kits because cars would need them. I haven't even as much as added water to a car in fifteen years.
