Chevy's using soy based coatings on their wiring rather than petroleum based coatings. Squirrels will eat the coating.
If you're retired (or not using a second car that often) squirrels eat the coating, your check engine light comes on and you're looking at a minimum $600 repair. Solution: keep your car in the garage or drive the second car around the block every 4 or 5 days.

I had a Tahoe (05) I kept at my cabin at the lake. Chipmunks ate the wiring to the tune of $800 plus a new battery.
