We own a Jeep with the HID lights and have not had any problems.
But my RAM 3500 diesel had both front turn indicators go bad due to water leaks killing the LED bulbs. Roughly $500 each, past warranty (manufacturing flaws).
Have replaced high and low beam bulbs three times (160,000 miles) and of course had to take it to a skilled mechanic so as not to ruin the grill or the headlight assemblies.
I feel for anyone who loses a light on long weekend trip out of town because replacing a simple headlight bulb requires work that is not easily done in a motel parking lot or a quick stop gas station on a dark night. Stuck with no light until dealerships open after the weekend or holiday.
As for the power windows, there are several safety reasons they should be banned. One reason is that they are much slower than the hand cranked window. In the event someone is trying to reach in your window, they roll up too slow and they have a safety feature that stops them if an arm or hand is in the way, brought about by numerous child deaths.
Now window speed is important. I once foiled an attempted personal attack by quickly rolling up my window, catching the bad guy by his elbow and dragging him fare enough away from his partner that I could release him and escape. Not possible with today's power windows.
The modern vehicle is the product of true engineering genius, by engineers with no common sense to guide their genius in the proper direction.
I have always thought that someone could make money by having a website that evaluated motor vehicles on their engineering merit.
What I mean by engineering merit is to evaluate parts and whole vehicles by how well they were designed and used.
visual beauty
practicality
well designed interiors
how practical to repair
How easy to maintain
and probably others. I have had great vehicles that had engineering design flaws like having to remove the engine to do what would be considered minor repairs in other vehicles.

The horrors that the governemt have wreaked upon us has left us all with these unattractive beetle looking things .
Subaru outback has a horrific paddle shifting device on the column for reaching low gears when they could have more easily been contained in a second shifter on the transmission.
Also, removing the chach-ca from the steering wheel that no one ever looks at would be great.
So would bringing back buttons so one does not need to take eyes off the road in order to change stations or rewind.
