Catalytic converters go bad, plug, and can ruin your engine. Park in an area known for catalytic converter thefts.

I’ve been trying to buy a new Civic for 9 months.

Yesterday the dealer called and said we’ve got one in the pipeline, we’ll hold it for you for a $500 deposit.

So I did it. We’ll see I guess.

All their engines are gonna die early

Small engines with turbos/twin turbos will die faster. The turbos will also go too and need replacement.

Our local Toyota dealer was selling RAV4s for $5k over MSRP, Corolla Crosses for $7k over MSRP and Tundras for $10k over MSRP. Anyone foolish enough to pay those prices will be super underwater when things get back to normal.

I bought a 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness for MSRP. Even when it was a buyer's market, they weren't that much below MSRP. And since the Wilderness is a new trim, there wouldn't have been much of a discount, if any, during normal times.

I recently picked up a square body Ford pickup with a 7.5 liter gas V8 - a proven engine platform, but a bit thirsty. I still have someone trying to buy it from me practically every time I drive it somewhere.

It is fun to drive, though.

Yup- can’t hold up as well as a big engine, especially if you’re hard on it. E=MC2

They say the Ecoboost is “just as powerful” technically maybe, but you’re winding turbos and lagging.

Forget about towing.

Mines the 5.3 L Triton which has a nasty tendency to blow spark plugs out of the heads. So far, so good, but I’m only got 77k on it.

7.5 L must be a “bit” thirsty!

Haha - I watch Scotties vids all the time. He’s funny AF and he’s an amazing mechanic.

Now I know you’re a gear head. Too funny.

Ha fro have some warrantee work done on my Hyundai. So 3 visits to dealership over 3 weeks…

Show room literally had nothing not in them but a few used vehicles each time, not a single new vehicle anywhere to be seen on the lot… not a single new vehicle in the showroom..

The chip shortage is the excuse, not the reason.

Car manufacturers are finally getting what they wanted. Cars will stop being commodities, will be made to order.

Great for car companies, sucks for car buyers.

But with Deep State in charge, that’s SSDD.

“I have a 2005 Highlander with a cat converter code on, 230,000m.”

I drove my 2004 V-6 Highlander for several years with a cat converter code on. At 225,000 miles, the AC developed a leak that my trusted mechanic could not find, and mrs riverdawg would not ride in it without working AC. A year ago, I traded it in for a 2018 Subaru Outback with the flat-6 engine and 35,000 miles. So far, so good.
