Words and music by Carole King and Toni Stern on 'Tapestry'

“It might as well rain until September.” One of my favorite King songs.
I once had a weird dream about that song in which it was explained that the lyrics are actually a coded description of a secret intercontinental ballistic missile base hidden among the warehouses and machine shops of South El Monte, Calif.
Sometime In the Morning (Carole King Demo)
and the recording by the Monkees (in which Carole also sings backup):
Thanks for that. Yeah - I enjoy hearing that stuff as well. That was a pretty good demo and close to the finished product.
Sometimes the early ideas are not as close to the final product. The Beatles come to mind. The recordings of the early takes are sometimes not even close to the final song.
I find the creative process of anything to be intriguing.
Whenever I hear this song, I think of a chronically depressed ex girlfriend of mine who would mope around the house in her blanket whining about the cruel world outside.
1972, Charlie Company, Presidio of Monterey Ca. You could walk down a hallway any time of day and you would hear songs from the Tapestry album coming from various rooms. It was phenomenal.
1971 vs 1979. A whole different Era (genre).
Not a fair quip on your part. 80’s music
just as automobiles of that time period
we’re sub par for a boomer.
Carol King, Linda Rohnstadt, James Taylor,
Gordon Lightfoot, Carly Simon, Elton John,
Eric Burton (War), Rod Stewart....etc.
Those were the days.
I don’t know why you feel attacked; I only chuckled at a coincidentally familiar quote. But it sounds like your issue isn’t 70s music vs ‘80s’ music, but easy listening vs. rock.
I take it it’s just a coincidence you chose people whose names are used by the DNC to spam up my e-mail: Carol[e] King, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Carly Simon. Lightfoot’s Canadian and Elton John and Rod Stewart are Britsh, so I guess I don’t have to worry about them.
DING! We HAVE a winner!
You’re reading way more into this than what
was intended. I only named performers names
who were the most prominent at Carol Kings
rise of fame. Pink Floyd isn’t in the folk
genre, or early 70’s style of music.
My sincere apologies if I pi**Ed you off.
Don’t worry: You didn’t piss me off; you just left me baffled.
