There was a place near where I went to college that served a chili dog that I sometimes dream about. The wiener itself was partially burned, I mean almost a third of it with third degree burns. Something about the smokey crunch with the chili, it worked really well.

The soda place next to the theater in Boone NC where I went to school had great hot dogs. The owner was sick so you had to walk by to see if it was open. Red dogs in a pan of water on the griddle. He’d toast the bun while he rolled the dog around on the griddle. Chili, slaw, mustard and onions. I think I only found it open twicet (Appalachian pronouncement).
