Andrea Mitchell (Andrea Mitchell Reports, MSNBC) discusses the origins of 'The Birther Movement' with Ben Smith (Politico Sr. Political writer) in 2013.
Ben Smith traces 'The Birther Movement' to Hillary Clinton supporters when she was losing to Barack Obama in 2008. Andrea Mitchell appears somewhat flustered and shaken by this revelation and tries to tie it to Donald Trump and Republicans. "Ben Smith, thank you so much, from Politico for...reminding us of where this all started". (She doesn't appear all that thankful).

Oh good Lord.
Not more of this Birftard mess.
I told them then that it would come to nothing.
What do you know, it came to nothing.
Still waiting for Birftard apologies.
They labeled ANYONE who thought (correctly) that this
would come to nothing as “OBAMA SUPPORTERS”.
None of us were, we just correctly saw that the whole thing was pointless.

**** Want to know something scary? She may be the next president if you don’t forward this to everyone that you know. Maybe she’s too old for a comeback, but never underestimate pure evil.
.
Agreed.
In addition to Obama, we now have Kamala Harris who is ineligible to sit as either Vice-President or President because she's not a natural born citizen since her parents were NOT U.S. citizens at the time of her birth.
“...the whole thing was pointless.”
Like all your responses?
Imagine if instead of spending thousands of hours on birther issues just one conservative had bothered to read the Obamacare Act and reported on all the nasty surprises in there.
Which would have done more good for the country?
If you disagree that it was pointless, please explain what was accomplished.
Didn’t Obama lie about his nationality to get preferential treatment in school? Isn’t that how this all started?
No
It started with one of Obama’s state legislative race opponents, Andy Martin in 2004.

Personally, I think Obama himself was saying he was born in Kenya while a student at Harvard for one reason or another. (To make himself seem more “exotic to stupid White coal burners perhaps.)
Early on his first publicist put out a printed blurb on him saying he was born in Kenya as well
As my BFF used to say (ad nauseum) “There are two kinds of Birthers. Some think Obama was born outside the USA, and these people are no different than any other Conspiracy Theorists. Then there are the Two-Citizen Parent Birthers who are just plain mentally ill people, like Sovereign Citizens.”
I still cringe every time I see the word Birther, and I hope she never gets started off on that stuff again. Hopefully, I can get her back into Pansies for Plato again.(and out of the Birther Think Tank for good)
You know why don’t you? Being an African was a lot better than being a plain old run-of-the-mill American Negro. I mean, suppose you got a disease that turned you physically into a Negro. Your hair darkened and your hair kinked up. Now would you change your name to Travonicus T. Washington, from Alabammy, or Mogombe Smith from The Gambia??? You know, being African is not just more exotic, it is a lot more practical too, because Africans fit in better than Negroes, and have better job chances.
Having seen this in action, claiming to be an African from Africa gets you a lot more company in bed. An Obama seems like one of those people who had a revolving door on his bedroom.
Either way The Birther Movement began with Democrats not Republicans.
Wasn’t it Bill and Hillary that initially divulged the info on 0bama not being an eligible citizen to run for office in the first place?
