I can be a very chatty guy in person. This guy was looking for a hat. He wanted the same hat that Trump wore last night. Well, I never saw that speech, so I did not know what Trump was wearing.
Oh, I have this little gig where I work in a place, just once a week or so, where they sell novelties and things. I do not make any money there, it just gets me out of the house where I can meet people. It is a ‘make busy’ thing.
So, he looks around, and he decides on this hat. It was a red Trump hat. He walked in wearing a red Trump hat, but it was well worn and becoming frayed and not very classy looking. So He buys the new hat, immediately dons it, and he leaves the place.
However, for a few minutes we were alone. I was curious about his accent, so I inquired. He told me that he was born in Israel. He also made it clear to me that he had nothing but contempt for Ukraine. He even made it clear to me that he was a fan of Putin.
I was unsure regarding how to speak with this man. He mentioned events of WW2 and how badly Jews were treated by Ukrainians. I have read of this long ago. Back in the 1970s, I studied quite a bit of Jewish History. I have long considered myself to be knowledgeable on these things.
This man was not really interested in some extended conversation. The entire experience was certainly under 15 minutes, probably less than 10.
I was a bit surprised to hear certain things from such a person. One thing for certain is that he was a strong Trump supporter. He was anxious to get that new Trump hat. I actually do meet a lot of people who are simply full of intrigue. It is similar to my hospital experiences, but the stress of illness or injury is not an aspect of it, so it is all rather fascinating to me. Personally, I am not yet certain about my opinion on this conflict, though for sure, all of the wrong people are supporting Zelensky and the Ukrainians.
