Allodial title does NOT work; I’ve seen people lose everything they own trying that avenue.

The first part, I can agree with - American State National is a State National in the US (excluding DC, Hawaii and Alaska).
Allodial titles do work, although it is my understanding it HAS TO BE DONE right, or one can get in ‘hot water’, as you indicate. One must become free before dealing with titles, and alloidial titles.
