I don’t think a plane missing a tail would dive like that. It would be rolling or yawing at least some.

An aircraft losing its tail is much more likely to go into a stall and/or flat spin.

This appears to be a controlled flight into the ground.

People are being too polite to say — but it’s almost certainly murder-suicide by plane, with an outside chance of an autopilot hack (i.e., murder without the suicide.)

There are really no casualty events that can cause the trajectory noted.

There are very few casualty events that could have caused the initial dive ... but the key fact is the 20 second reversal of the dive. This would not have been possible with the kind of casualty could have caused the initial dive.

However, it is very well explained by Pilot A or hacked autopilot putting the plane into a dive, Pilot B recovering control for 20 seconds, and Pilot A or autopilot taking the controls back and resuming the fatal dive, or (less likely) the dive reversal having been so far out of the performance envelope wings or stabilizers detached or control surfaces failed.

Positive static stability on display. No changes from the missing tail assembly (rudder, elevator) and the yoke is not being manipulated the plane would dive straight down. No elevator to cause any change in lift, no rudder to cause any change in direction.
One would think the plane might be spiraling due to the engines still likely producing thrust.

How high up were they? Far up enough to have pressurized, had an instant decompression where people hopefully would have passed out, unaware of their fate?

Oxygen masks would have deployed and those that put them on would have been conscious all the way down.

Yes, those that did not may have lost consciousness and died more peacefully.

Chinese pilots do not know how to fly anything.

Chinese pilots are the craziest pilots in the world.

The pilots of these planes are only trained to get from point "A" to point "B", and they will fly the plane thru turbulence and so forth.

I think the APU is in the tail, and the 800 is fully fly-by-wire so if somehow the tail is blown clean off, somehow, and all power controls are frozen I suppose it might be possible. Still doesn’t seem likely.

Check the flight manifest to see if anyone on board may have been targeted for assassination.
