A court ordered the release of Jussie Smollett from jail on bond as the appeal of his conviction is pending.
Smollett was recently sentenced to 150 days in jail after being convicted of lying to Chicago police about being the victim of a hate crime back in 2019.
Smollett’s attorneys had argued that he would have completed the sentence by the time the appeal process was completed and that Smollett could be in danger of physical harm if he remained locked up in Cook County Jail.

How many people can “accidently” shoot two people, killing one and not see the inside of a jail cell?
It’s not the crime, it’s who you are!
The Truth is the Truth. Adjusting the truth is corrupt in of itself.
Its a blessing. The longer this drags out the more marginalized he will be. We had the same issue with Judge Tracy Hunter who appealed every possible way and eventually went to jail. By the time she did no one even knew who she was and all of her money and that of her supporters was gone.
If he’s found guilty a second time will he again be released on bond because by the time his second appeal is heard he would have already served his sentence?
He’s not getting a new trial.
This Jussie thingie just won’t die. It’s like the 1994 OJ Simpson series.
