Yesterday, a European intel official estimated 7,000 to 9,000 Russian KIA as of a few days earlier:

***************

Michael Weiss @michaeldweiss I spoke this afternoon to a senior European intelligence official. The picture shared about what’s happening in Ukraine differs from U.S. government assessments, especially on Russian losses. So let me present (without commentary) what this source said:3:12 PM · Mar 9, 2022·Twitter Web App

Michael Weiss @michaeldweiss “From our estimate, the KIA figure on the Russian side was anywhere from 7,000 to 9,000 a few days ago.”3:12 PM · Mar 9, 2022·Twitter Web App

The Russian government is starting to release names of individual KIAs in the cities they came from, along with posthumous medals but trying not to let the people get a sense of the total number of young Russian men Putin has gotten killed in his grandiose adventure

Not sure about the accuracy of those numbers. However the Russians have also lost not only their men and equipment but their reputation as well. The world now knows that their conventional forces are not the juggernaut that was once so feared and respected. Europe will be perceiving and treating Russia much differently and far less deferentially after this war is over.

IMHO this is a made-for-Twitter war. Most of what we are see is either old imagery being pawned off as new/recent or computer generated, wag the dog style stuff being packaged to bring a tear to the eyes of the ignorant masses.

Oryx is a great ‘tweeter’ on wars.
Having a heck of a time keeping up with the losses on both sides but is making an honest and worthy effort.

His retweets are constantly helpful and informative too.

Notwoofer, Elint, and Abraxas Spa are good war tweeters too.
