Let’s face it: often, a good song is only as good as its bassline. In fact, there are times when the bass guitar player – so often the under-appreciated middle man or woman of music – steals the spotlight through their mountain-moving low-end activities.
In an age where it’s easy to debate and obsess over the greatest guitar solos of all time, the bassline can often fly under the radar. Yet there is an entire legion of bass hooks that deserve their rightful place in the annals of music history.

Chrissie’s a lib, but she’s ok by me, not a lot of musicians would have allowed Rush to use their music.

I pond fish a lot...my biggest maybe was 8 lbs. Hard to believe catching a 15-17lb LM Bass!!
Another One Bites the Dust --> Good Times
Give It Away --> Come Together
Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick --> Come On, Come Over.
I know with lists like this some worthy entries inevitably get left off, but it would've been nice if it included Pump It Up by Elvis Costello, with Bruce Thomas on bass.
Primus - Jerry Was A Racecar Driver
James Dewar.
Without him Trower’s stuff would not have had the spooky, funky soul it did.
Easy to forget how good of a bass player Cetera was.
8. The Beatles - Come Together
Yes, such a sophisticated and multi-layered bass line. Absolutely #8 of all time - Not.

First time I’ve seen that one. Good ol’ Key and Peele...
I loved their “Is This Country Song Racist?” bit.
