Democratic Socialists blame US imperialism for Russian invasion of Ukraine
The Democratic Socialists of America blamed US and NATO “imperialist expansion” for helping trigger the Russian invasion of Ukraine — provoking criticism from local political leaders.
“DSA reaffirms our call for the US to withdraw from NATO and to end the imperialist expansionism that set the stage for this conflict,” the DSA said in a statement.
“While the failures of neoliberal order are clear to everyone, the ruling class is trying to build a new world, through a dystopic transition grounded in militarism, imperialism, and war. Socialists have a duty to build an alternative.”
The socialist group continued that “much of the next ten years are coming into view through this attack” and closed by saying, “no war but class war.”
The DSA’s members who are elected leaders include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

All of their yammering is simply a witness to their condition. They describe their loathsome selves and try to blame those who see through their lies. Gaslighters all, to a putrid self, they are.
No. I’m not interested in your question.
“No. I’m not interested in your question.”
You just answered it, thanks.
Sound like FR Putin puffers lol.
They’re not entirely wrong on this one narrow issue. Bush and Clinton did, in fact, promise the Russians that in return for them not objecting to the reunification of Germany (which could not have given the Russians the warms & fuzzies), we wouldn’t expand NATO eastward. Well...they held up their end of that bargain and Presidents of both parties didn’t hold up our end. That, at the very least, gave Putin some justification for acting to prevent Ukraine from becoming part of NATO and the potential basing of all kinds of weaponry within a short distance of vital Russian defense installations and most of their big cities.
The simple question is, “what would we have done if the shoe was on the other foot?” As an example, what if after we broke up for 20-30 years and finally started putting our nation back together, we found that the Chinese had allied themselves with most Central American countries and had troops there, and were eying a treaty with the breakaway Republic of Calaznewmextex? We, after all, held those territories for 175+ years, and they are/were an integral part of both our economy and defense establishment. Well, Ukraine had been held by Russia since the mid-1700s.
Believe me, I don’t like agreeing with these Communists about ANYTHING, even what color the sky is, but correct (or mostly so) is correct. We have treated Russia like crap and broken our word to them while making them less secure. We kind of asked for this kind of reaction.
That all said, I do not agree with what Putin is doing or how he is doing it, and I definitely hope that the Russian Army has to leave Ukraine in a couple of weeks with its tail between its legs.
Then how do you propose a relatively weaker Ukraine defend against the stronger Russia's aggression?
We have too many people buying into Putin stating that NATO on his doorstep is provocative and threatening. Bull-squeeze. NATO is a defensive alliance formed specifically to allow smaller, weaker nations to be defended against imperialist attacks from Russia (and potentially others). He uses this falsehood as a (false) pretext for his actions, just like Deep State used the fabricated Steele dossier to go after Trump.
NATO is not a governing body. It is a voluntary alliance of like-minded independent nations, committed to democratic principals, free markets, and free people. They do not attack sovereign countries, take their land, or kill their people. They PROTECT one-another from imperialism, dictators, fascists and tyrants.
Look, I am not interested in playing your little game where you ask questions to deflect from a topic. Your posting history is filled with examples of you performing this behavior and I will not give you the satisfaction of allowing you to manipulate me.
The original poster of this topic posted a troll and you took the bait.
Own it.
It pulls the US into wars weshould not be fighting.
Thanks again for confirming I’m right.
“Thanks again for confirming I’m right.”
Likewise.
Agreed, and I don't know why more people can't understand this. But we seem to live in a time where people just want to follow what the media is pushing, rather than think about the issues in detail.
