P365 is an excellent gun. I’d take it over a 38.

Sig 365, S&W Sheild or Shield+. Unless you have a supply of .38Spec laid in. I myself am looking for a small .380 pocket pistol. Anyone had experience with either the Ruger LCP or LCP2?

I don’t know about a lot about Sigs, but a double action semi-auto like this would work; no safety!!!!. Glocks, like the slimline Glocks would do. They go bang every time you pull the trigger. Less expensive than a Sig, but if you have the money a Sig is a bit better feeling than the Glock. Don’t know about automobile safes.

“...an EDC firearm...”

I'm thinking 'Every Day Carry'.

Word to the wise - please define your acronyms.

At my last base, the Commander allowed pistols on base as long as they were unloaded and secured separately from the ammo.

My solution was to purchase a Book Safe from Harbor Freight Tools. I would secure the pistol in the safe without the magazine and place the safe on the passenger floor on my truck. All legal and the book safe cost was about $15.00.

You can go with a small safe under your seat that’s cabled securely to the seat’s steel supports, or have someone weld a lockbox to the frame.

Whatever you decide, you should also have a reliable alarm system that alerts you if your vehicle is tampered with. I have a Viper system.

P365
In this era of Antifa and BLM, my recommendation is to go for capacity.

I bought a LCP when they first came out. Good pistol but very heavy trigger. I would have preferred something easier. I have heard Ruger has corrected the issue.

I have an LCP. Carry it everywhere, even work where it is technically verboten. What they can’t see can’t hurt me.

I carry it at work because I don’t want to leave it in my vehicle. I live in a Constitutional Carry state and bad guys know if they need a gun all they have to do is break into three or four cars and they’ll find one.

I have put a couple of boxes of cartridges through it. It shoots OK. It’s not meant to be a target pistol.

In 98% of defensive gun uses (DGUs), a shot is not fired.

Which means that a mouse gun is as good as a cannon 98% of the time.

Fact: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

Source: http://www.gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/7.1/Gun-Facts-7.1-screen.pdf, page 21.

Fact: A victim may have a strong reluctance to talk to a government agent about a firearm brandishing incident (which are 98% of DGUs) because they may not know the act was 100% legal.

Source: http://www.gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/7.1/Gun-Facts-7.1-screen.pdf, page 83.

In other words, the 98% number is probably low.

Keltec .380 or 9mm
It’s the best deep conceal. Only drawback, no safety. I carry without one in the chamber. When i pull it out, I am trained to rack it.
If you cannot rack a handgun reliably, go with a wheel gun.

you won’t believe how light and concealable it is.

Sig 365, 365X or 365XL are all good.
As is the Springfield Hellcat.
Ruger Max9 has 12 round capacity as well.

EDC = Every Day Carry. I have better weapons, but they're bulky, heavy, have hammers that scratch through my clothing, etc.

I'm looking for something that, if all else fails, I can drop in my pocket during the summer time and at least have any sort of weapon at my disposal.
