One of the reasons Germany relies so much on natural gas is that they’ve pretty much outlawed coal, and “alternative energy” forms like wind and solar power have been an abysmal failure. It reached the point of absurdity when Germany decided to deal with the failure of these energy sources by simply declaring that — get this — natural gas is now a form of “clean energy.” LOL.
“I remember reading an article recently about how silly the alternative energy policies in Europe are. All true. Plus they’ve closing down their nukes (I think the last of them go dark this year). Electricity is now 37 cents per kwh in Germany, it is 11 cents in Texas (cheaper if you shop) and roughly the same nationwide (to translate that into real numbers - for an average house during our long Texas summer, that would mean $1000 to $1500 monthly electric bills, and same for winter, if the house has resistance heating). Only two Pacific island countries charge more, and probably because they have to run diesel to generate power.
What should also be noted is the HUGE PUSHBACK from the Left in Germany to their ‘new’ green power (natural gas). Even with electricity prices where they are, the Left doesn’t budge - so thinking they’ll get back to some level of common sense there (such as delaying the remaining nuke shutdowns) is a pipe dream.
