It certainly looks real to me. Look at this famous photo of the singular man... notice the street lines, pedestrian zones and the bus in the background...and then notice where all the black spots are in the photo and compare to what you posted. It looks to me that at least some of those bodies have been removed via photo manipulation; what we used to call Scytex (airbrush) back in the day. So this man most likely made his stand after many had already been shot dead in the street.

No - Tank man happened about 4 days prior to the massacre. I’ll have to pull the books to get the exact timing.

The stains in the road are just the normal everyday Beijing filth and stains of that timeframe.

After Tank man happened they pulled back the troops stationed in Beijing as being too close to the protestors and brought in troops from outside of Beijing in order to conduct the final assault.

After the massacre they used bull dozers and skid-loaders to clear the square and surrounding areas of the bodies. They were unceremoniously dumped outside the city in mass graves, the square was hosed down, scrubbed and in some cases repainted.

I think, but can’t remember for sure, that the immediate roads in the vicinity were repaved within a few weeks as well .... but again I’ll have to dig out materials.
