Our son was home schooled.

Passed the GED after the 8th grade.

Took it as an entrance exam for a college prep school.

Way back when a 13 y.o. couldn’t easily get into any college except community colleges.

Instead, he got his Eagle Scout and competed in church bible competition called Teen Bible Quiz.

He’s done quite well and is still self motivated to be the best.

My Eagle Board of Review was in April 1972. I was 15. A worthwhile effort and likely a plus on my application to UCSD. The range of skills learned in Scouts are excellent preparation for real life. Congrats to your son.
