I’ve never known much about Canada before this. The whole event has taught me that most of the population are really thoughtful people and sterling characters - but a lot of their politicians seem to be sleazeballs.
If the PTB are going to make concessions in the end, why couldn’t they do it in a straightforward, civilized way, without accompanying insults and threats? Why did they never actually sit down with the truckers and have a respectful conversation and give-and-take with them?
Seems to me that if a government refuses to engage the people directly over an important issue, it must be acting from fear of some kind.
Now, they’re trying to ease things without any admission that they’ve been wrong about anything, while insisting that they still have the upper hand, and still intimidating their own citizenry.
(Yes, I realize that a lot of our US pols are sleazeballs, too. And I realize that I’m an idealist.)

Politicians cannot understand pure motives and think the convoy wants to steal their power.
