In the last year a fusion startup raised nearly $2 billion from Gates, Bezos and others. Just the other day European researchers maintained a fusion reaction for nearly a minute and produced 3 times energy of the previous record. There is now a huge amount of money both private and government along with an unprecedented number of researchers giving their all to turn fusion into a viable energy source.

For those who want to understand why little is going toward LENR (cold fusion) here is an introductory article.

https://undsci.berkeley.edu/lessons/pdfs/cold_fusion.pdf

Unfortunately, charlatans and hucksters dominated the cold fusion scene for decades drowning out and causing sincere researchers to be ignored.

Short answer— NO.

Now in time maybe, possibly.. I hope. But if you really look into the field you will understand we are still no where near the level of technology needed to have any kid of production value from fusion other than bombs.

Just one Nuclear Professional’s opinion....

The short answer is no. Only clean solar energy and fresh pure wind energy should be used. That way large swaths of the world population can freeze and die and the world population can be brought down to a sustainable 400,000,000 people. That will be just enough for us oligarchs to have staff to support our standard of living and enough slave labor to produce the things we need (and not much else).

What all the phony fusion hype means. Very good video. This woman is well worth following.

Diet Smith was supposed to be opening a nuclear fusion plant over 40 years ago!

Instead of focusing on pie in the sky nuclear fusion, why not rethink what works, coal firing plants. I cannot fathom that all the energy and time wasted on the other alternative crap cannot be focused back on making a 100% clean burning coal plant! Focus on what to do with the output of burning coal.

one-million-ampere current and a 1,000-second duration 100-million-degree temperature (that is five times hotter than the sun).
***In the meantime, Cold Fusioners have run far less current, 100X longer, 5 orders of magnitude lower temperature, have been past ignition and break-even for about 30 years.

Cold Fusion is 25 ORDERS of MAGNITUDE better bang for the buck than Controlled Hot Fusion (CHF).

Our reliance on fossil fuel dates back to the Carter days, when the NRC, under his instruction, made development of nuclear power plants exceedingly difficult and costly, essentially shutting down our nuclear energy program.

Due to excessive regulation existing U.S. nuclear plants are patched and cobbled for relicensing rather than building new, safer and more efficient plants.

Yes, within ten years.

Ten years from now, the answer will be the same.

It's not the physics, its the politics.

The Population Control crowd running this Global Warming scam DO NOT WANT A SOLUTION!!!

That's why the "alternatives" they propose, like wind and solar, are cost prohibitive, unreliable, and ineffective.

They can't compete in a free market, without tax incentives.

They are environmental disasters when real estate, manufacturing and disposal costs and processes, are factored in.

To even pretend to be reliable they require batteries for power storage, which is its own environmental disaster.

We’ll get it, things take time.

Someone will crack the nut of LENR too. There is clearly something going on, we just haven’t figured it out yet.

The plain truth is the wet dream of fusion research pulls funding and approvals away from new, intrinsically safe fission reactors.

Not only does this mean more costly, dirty power for the foreseeable future, it also prevents today’s nuclear waste from being burned and reduced to a 5% residue that is inert in just 300 years.

As we all know nuclear Fusion energy is right around the corner, as it has been for the last 70 years.

But there is a nuclear energy source that has been providing safe, reliable, cheap, non-co2 emitting electricity for decades - nuclear fission.

The environazi are always in favor of nonexisting pipedreams, and if they ever become a reality then they go about finding fault with it, and destroying. IOW, they’re against anything that works.

Why so many of us let them dictate how we should live is beyond me.

If fusion power could be developed to the point of 95% safe operations it would not be allowed to operate by the Rats.

The left would rather the U.S. be invested in Wind and Solar power. Two sources that are Wholey undependable when needed.

These are the same idiots that are trying to force the American People into driving electric vehicles.

It is my belief that nuclear fusion is not energy salvation

Future needs will be supplied by large numbers of small nuclear power producing devices.
