I wonder how much tonnage a bridge span can handle. I would not want to be on the bridge full of stopped trucks. No thank you.

Didn't design bridges (which may very well have HIGHER numbers) but always used a "Safety Factor" of at least seven times the absolute maximum load for design of structures.

In addition, I recall seeing a note that said the bridge is privately owned, which cuts out the corruption/graft factor involved in most-if-not-all gummint projects.

Chock full of trucks or not, I'd walk across that bridge. With all of our family.
