My issue is the slippery slope-not to other drugs. It’s the attitude of too many who think it’s ok to smoke it in public. Every passer-by should call them on it like the Karens do. Will they? We’re not as brave as the Karens.

I call is skunk-butt. That is what it smells like. Different varieties of skunk-butt. I smell it all around this town and too often from the idiots smoking and driving.

“DeSantis also said in the same discussion that legalizing weed would be up to the legislature” so the

It’s a fund-raising pitch, so they left that part out.

One of my doc friends says that long term pot users get lung diseases just like cigarette smokers.

Great point, Nick. Many pot smokers become defensive, and (shall I say it?) paranoid.

He just won my vote for President. I’m DYING here from 2nd and 3rd hand smoke in Los Angeles (wellI hope I’m not dying! So far it’s just disturbed sleep and heightened allergies from neighbors smoke — but it also lingers on the road too while driving!)

Its legalization paralleled the growing homelessness and overall decay of everything else too. Complete acceleration of the decay and rot. Makes sense because everyone’s brains are rotting on the stuff!

I’m not saying people should go to jail for possessing it — they can be “punished” with clean up chores around the city or save baby turtles or something. But for the love of God, please end the smoke. It’s so nasty. And it’s so pungent and filled with poison. It’s not just pure cannabis!

There are a lot of devastating psychological effects associated with weed that tobacco cigarettes don’t have.

Need to legalize it to stop the ‘legalized’ theft of cash, cars, homes for a bud of marijuana…and yes it happens. FBI and a Sheriff’s office is being sued for seizure of cash being carried to a credit union from a group of legal marijuana dispensaries.

Gateway drug? They said the same thing about heroin and meth. But it ain't so. They didn't go on to harder drugs. IF everyone would just stay in their lane, everything would be okay. leave the pot smokers be. they're harmless for the most part.

“It's a gateway drug...despite what anyone might claim.”

so is beer. Should that be criminalized too?

Pot is one of the pillars of the leftist plan to destroy the country. That being said, this was still a pretty weak comment from DeSantis.

"It's a gateway drug...despite what anyone might claim."

I think somebody wrote a book to demonstrate that point. As for me, and it may just be a coincidence, but it seemed to me that within a year or two of legalizing marijuana, our area saw a sharp increase in homelessness, vagrancy, litter, and general decline in the quality of public space. I think the idea that "it's legal, so it must be ok" leads to more use by more people who shouldn't be using it. People with psychological vulnerabilities are derailed.

Harmless? When they constantly vote for big government socialists and try to imping on the rest of us?

My guess is that his comment about the odor was just an afterthought, but the article makes it sound like it’s his main reason for opposing legalization.
