AN escape of lab monkeys on a Pennsylvania highway has sparked fears of a virus outbreak after a woman who came into contact with them later fell ill.
Michelle Fallon stopped to help after a truck carrying 100 cynomolgus macaques crashed on Interstate 80, spilling animal crates across the tarmac.
State troopers said four of the primates were on the loose and warned the public not to try to catch them on Friday evening.
They have all since been accounted for.
Now it has emerged a passerby who was at the scene is being treated for symptoms of an unknown illness.
Michelle, of nearby Danville, was driving behind the truck when it crashed on the way to a research facility.
She got out to help the driver with the smashed crates, initially believing they were transporting cats.
When she put her hand on a cage, one of the three monkeys inside hissed at her but she was not bitten or scratched.
She said she also stepped in animal feces amid the chaos as four monkeys ran away into woodland.
The next day she developed Covid-like symptoms including a cough and pink eye.
Doctors gave her the first of four rabies injections together with an anti-viral drug.
She said on Facebook she was contacted by the CDC and is being monitored for symptoms of rabies and monkey herpes virus B.

This is the first I have heard that 2 monkeys are still missing. I thought it was said that they caught and shot them all.
Don’t forget the two cases of monkey pox that were diagnosed about 8 weeks ago in Maryland. The story is the person(s) had traveled to Africa. I’m sure it’s just coincidence that Ft. Detrick is there and these people get a rare monkey disease.
Is it only me who thinks it’s breathtakingly stupid to stick your fingers into a crate where a traumatized animal that you can’t see is confined, whether you think they are cats or not?

Even creepier: She put her hand ON the cage — didn’t stick her finger in. The monkey hissed at her. There was no actual contact between her and monkey (according to the report I read).
Being infected from just a hiss would make it airborne and that’s nothing to sneeze at (no pun intended).
When I heard here we’re two still missing, was late last night. Maybe it was just the 3, I have not heard anymore about searching for monkeys.

According to the article, one of the monkeys "hissed" at her.
We can get all sorts of infections via our eyes (viral, bacterial, fungal). Certainly, a possibility in this case.
On a related note, something I've been mentioning since the early days of the scamdemic/plandemic. If the "health officials" really were serious...and were really that concerned about covid, there would have been a goggle or eye protection mandate as well. [1][2]
That there wasn't, was (one of) a giant red flag that they really weren't that worried about the disease and were really more concerned with creating unwarranted fear for control purposes.
The cloth mask/bandana is ok "mandate" was always an absurdity if this thing was the great public health threat they promoted 24/7.
Especially since so many of them were seen in public over the many months, sans face decoration.

The report I read is that she said she put her hand ON a cage — didn’t stick a finger in. The monkey hissed at her. It was the the goo from the hiss that got her. (Maybe there’s a different report that I didn’t see.)
