We had a debate at work about the “Great American Band”. What one band, by itself, typified American music.

My pick was The Allman Brothers.

The consensus was Aerosmith, which (imho) is a British band that just happens to be from Boston.

That would probably be my choice. Their influence was huge. Pretty much started Southern Rock, even though I never thought of them as a Southern Rock band.

Hard choice. I’d put Marshall Tucker Band up there. I’d consider Buffalo Springfield, but Neil Young was a Canuck.

I would have put Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band in a close second place on that list.
