No, not an RPG. However, the very first enemy weapon aimed in my direction was a recoilless rifle at Gio Linh.
   I spent 13 months on an 8" howitzer and was targeted by 100s and 100s of NVA arty, rockets and mortars.
My tinnitus was from of all the above.

We knocked down 100,000 acres of jungle north west of Saigon in six months. We spent the nights at firebase. One base by the Back Virgin mountain had one track mounted 8”er, 2 155s, 2 175s, about 20 105s, 20 tanks, 20 APCs and a company off infantry. Mad Minutes were fun. B52s raised a ruckus at nights along with Puff. Air strikes all day. I have a picture of a 500 lb bomb with dozer tracks on it.

Quite an adventure for a 19 year old Engineer.
