Chik Fil A is dead to me. After years of hoping they are opening one in my city. Won’t ever go there.

Perhaps you are unaware that todays Chik isn’t the old Chik. If you know and don’t care then shame on you.

This weekend, we went into Sam’s Club for a rotisserie chicken and were met by a sign proclaiming that because of a shortage there were no chickens.

They had them at BJ’s, however.

Sundance’s article is long.

He does understand grocery distribution.

I read he is retired, but he was a buyer at a large grocery outlet.

Produce supply systems are especially confusing in how the system operates. The system is not simple, but it has many patch of supply. And it is always subject to supply issues. Prices of produce are very volatile.

I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy and side effect is that one loses his sense of taste. Nothing tastes the same as I remember and some stuff (that I used to love) tastes downright awful.

I guess I should consider the food shortages a mixed blessing that I’m not necessarily missing what I’m missing...

Good. Soft drinks are slow poison anyway.

In my area, Taco Bell was out of crunchy taco shells last week.

Today’s tomato’s taste like trash anyways. Unflavored mush.

The reason is, farmers generally use just NPK fertilizers.

This will grow vegetables.

Much of the minerals have been depleted from the soil in the USA.

If you grow your own veggies, add rock dust (ledgepack from a local quarry) and/or Jersey greensand.

For tomatoes, a couple of tablespoons of Jersey greensand under every plant.

For beets and carrots, till in about a ton of ledgepack per 200 square feet of garden.

Save a little aside to dress the top with.

This will reduce slugs as they don't like to crawl across the sharp stones.

There used to be many Jersey greensand quarries in New Jersey along the coast.

Government regulation and stupidity has left us with ONE.

The stuff is expensive, but a bag will last you a long time.

Jersey greensand has 26 minerals in it.

Depending on the stone being crushed, stone dust can have lot too.

Thanks for the heads up. We don't use Saltines much, but when we do, it's usually for my wife who has something of a touchy gut and she needs to eat something. I've seen what looks like Mexican Crackers at HEB. I passed on them this weekend, but maybe we'll try them out.

We usually get the "Fresh Snacks" Saltines which has them packed in eight separate stacks that are shorter (of course, less total weight than the standard long stacks). Like I said, we don't eat them all that often, and the shorter stacks allow the unopened crackers to stay fresh longer.

Haha, I was just wondering what happened to saltine crackers. Even fresh out of the package, they always feel and taste like they’re stale now.

“... I got my monies worth ($2), so I did not complain...”

The local Wawa has been having trouble stocking lots of the myriad of items you can choose. Lots of “sorry, don’t have that.” I went there last night, and surprisingly, they didn’t seem to be missing anything. Got home, and the order was barely recognizable: a hoagie with the wrong cheese, pickles instead of roasted peppers, hot peppers instead of jalapenos, only a few shreds of lettuce, no mayonnaise, no salt, pepper or oregano, and a cold, clammy, stale roll. I don’t know if it was just them giving up on filling orders without goods, or if the whole quality things has gone out the window.

It’s really feeling like the Soviet Union.

And no tacos at Jack in the Box the other day. And that was the 3rd. time in in a year that was the case. Its not like I go there that often, but when I want a crappy cheap taco that is my fix.
