Agreed. Loved that movie. Even Redford was good in it.

R.I.P. and Godspeed.
An excellent actor who was in some really good films.

I didn’t know until recently that the actress who played daughter Joanna in that movie was Katharine Hepburn’s niece.

He was one of the truly great actors of our time... I always liked him. Even though he was a lefty, he had class. I am glad he had such a long run and I am glad he broke down social barriers.

He may not have had the “it” factor, which Sidney did have. Sheer star power.

Black political activists and black political activist actors need to understand Sidney - he had nor needed a “black” acting role model to see and go for what he could do, what he could be. He was not held back by what had not happened before him.

Always liked his role in Duel At Diablo. Pretty good honorable mention type western, James Garner, Dennis Weaver and others.

Great story; tense, well-acted. Fine cinematography, for black and white, I mean. The faces spoke volumes.

I absolutely agree with your assessment of Home of the Brave. Great performances throughout, particularly Edwards, Lloyd Bridges, Steve Brodie, and Frank Lovejoy.
Edward’s association with Communists and fellow travelers did him in in late 40’s -1950’s Hollywood. Great actor, just born too soon. Those connections would be a boon for him with the woketopian entertainment industry today...
