I was curious why they weren’t done routinely. They only seem to be done if there is cause. The people I’ve known that have had heart surgery, it came out of the blue, when the heart was already damaged. No prior warning, so if that is the norm it seems like it should be part of an older persons’ tests, like a colonoscopy, etc.
Our family doctor does an EKG if he hears anything unusual with his stethoscope.
Hubby has had several.
I would think if an older person goes in for a full physical all kinds of tests would be ordered.
That’s how hubby found out about his non-functioning diaphragm.
I guess it depends on who you see for your health care.
My parents had quite a time as their health care providers sold out several times, some good some very bad.
