They originally decided to update Romeo and Juliet by putting it in an American city in the mid-20th century, with street gangs.

Then, 60 years later they decided to update it again bu doing pretty much a repeat.

They should do “updates” better.

If they really wanted a meaningful update, they could have done something like Muslim girl falls for Israeli guy. But that would have been a little too daring.

The leonardo decaprio version with original language in a big modern city version was an interesting project.
