Save some money; it is Benadryl in a different formulation. Look for the store brand or generic packaging (diphenhydramine.) The last time I was in the hospital I asked if the Dr had prescribed a sleeping med. They said 'No' but they 'had something'. I said that if it is diphenhydramine don't bother because it neither puts me to sleep or decongests me.
That is to say, most antihistamines can double as a sleep aid. My favorite - once identified by Wikipedia as world renowned best sleep aid - is doxylamine succinate... I think originally sold as Unisom. Walmart has it under their name but you have to look for it, in a small bottle.

Of course, to duplicate the above NyQuil add some tylenol (generic) and something for the throat if needed.

NyQuil liquid also has a very high alcohol content as its vehicle. Sorry I could not locate the exact proof, but it is (or at least was) on the order of a shot of schnapps. This helps with sleep, no doubt.
“most antihistamines can double as a sleep aid.” Yes, the ‘older’ non-selective histamine receptor products do. The ‘newer’ selective histamine-1 (H1) receptor antagonists (e.g., cetirizine) for allergies and histamine-2 (H2) receptor antagonists (e.g., famotidine) for heart burn tend to be less sedating.
