Releasing from near Kourou...on the 25th at 7:20am, not today

Also, per the interwebz

From Japanese 光 (kou) meaning “light”, 宏 (kou) meaning “wide, spacious, great, vast”, 孝 (kou) meaning “filial piety”, 幸 (kou) meaning “happiness”, 康 (kou) meaning “peaceful”, 弘 (kou) meaning “spread, enlarge, expand”, 浩 (kou) meaning “prosperous” or 香 (kou) meaning “fragrance” combined with 郎 (rou) meaning “son” or 朗 (rou) meaning “bright, clear”. Other kanji combinations are possible.

With over 100 successful missions to orbit, the Ariane 5 is one of the world’s most reliable heavy lift vehicles capable of delivering Webb to its destination in space.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is providing the launcher and associated launch services as part of its contribution to the Webb mission. These launch services have been tailored to accommodate all the specific requirements of the Webb mission.

Everything we see is back in time.

Yep, it takes time for light to get to our little planet...

Rockets launching from French Guiana on the northeastern coast of South America benefit from a slingshot effect of being so close to the equator, where the rotational speed of Earth at the surface is greatest.

Webb’s launch site is Arianespace’s ELA-3 launch complex at the Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG), or Guiana Space Center. The center is located near the town of Kourou in French Guiana, an overseas department of France.

What a maroon!
All telescopes can, so-defined, see back in time...
JSW will just “see” further back by seeing “further-away” galaxies and/or stars...

I’m just happy that NASA has time to do actual space stuff. What with all the muslim outreach and climate change stat fixing they have to do.

Well, yes. The galaxies they will be viewing are long since gone into black holes and become other galaxies moving in our direction.
