Come to think of it now, the women in the comic really WERE the men’s equals!🙂

It is not quite like BC but there is a strong interdependence in primitive tribes. So the men do not disregard the wishes of the women. Gathering puts a lot of food in the pot and her cooking and preparing it means that you will eat that night even if you did not manage to catch a rabbit or something.

That counts for a lot.

And while she can gather and cook she is very vulnerable when she is pregnant or nursing. So she is dependent on her man to keep her safe.

That of course is just the basics. Depending on the tribe things can get very complicated.
