Family finds deadly snake living in Christmas tree
NY Post ^ | 14 Dec 2021 | Hannah Frishberg

a family noticed something strange poking its head out from behind an ornament — the most poisonous snake in South Africa.

A quick internet search revealed that the reptile was the nation’s most venomous snake, the deadly boomslang. Wild immediately sent snake-catcher Gerrie Heyns a photo of the tree interloper, circling the snake’s head. But the situation was so ridiculous, Heyns dismissed it as a joke.

“I drove over to theirs, telling them not to take their eyes off it in case it slithered away from the Christmas tree and found itself a hiding place in their home.”

“I would stress they are extremely peaceful snakes and nonaggressive and happy to be left alone, so if you see one in a tree, then just leave it there,”

"if you see one in a tree, then just leave it there"

That's good to know. I was thinking I'd just shake the tree violently to aggravate it, then grab it with my bear hands.

Does not look as frightening as an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake!

A grizzly bear goes into a bar. "I'll have a nice cold.......beer please".
Bartender: Why the big pause?
Bear, looking at his paws, "Oh, I've had them my whole life."

Wild immediately sent snake-catcher Gerrie Heyns
Mr. Wild finds wild snake or wild snake finds Mr. Wild?

Good idea. I haven’t had a particularly bad day, but your comment made me laugh. I think I’d poke at it with a stick, too.

If you have a fake tree you can now decorate with a rubber snake.

South Africa is about as far from the equator as you can go.
