Too many movies. Not enough ideas. And the big money doesn’t like to take risks with new ideas anyway. A century ago, Americans were confronted with lots of new experiences that hadn’t been conveyed in any medium. Now, for all the talk about the rapid rate of change, it seems like most of what happens has already made its way into film or TV. And what really is new about today won’t pass today’s PC censors.

I would argue that the "heroes" in movies aren't even real heroes. They're just warmed-over secular archetypes who transition very easily into non-binary, rainbow warriors.

Want to make something super-popular that will make a bazillion dollars? Make the equivalent of a 50 episode South Korean historical drama (something like Immortal Yi Soon Shin, or Empress Ki, or Jumong, if you're familiar with any of those), except based on western history. No porn. No gross vulgarity. No stupid anti-Christian political garbage. Imagine such a series on the First Crusade? Or the life of Constantine? Or the reign of Justinian? And make it freely available at first, like The Chosen. Such a production would be a smash hit.

I vet all my movie choices through his reviews. He never fails.

One exception, he praised "V for Vendetta"

CRap movie, a Right Wing Dictator while Liberals are the ones fighting for freedom, yeah suuurrreee. Not to mention how V was able to acquire tons of explosives and sneak into the most secure government buildings and kidnap the President (all off screen of course) really stretches credibility , even by movie standards. I expected a Drinker's patented "Don't Know" montage on those.

The biggest problem with their approach is that they co-opt the characters we grew up with, gut them of what made them heroic and admirable, and refill the space with their anti-hero garbage.

They won’t invent new heroes with the values they espouse because no one wants to watch them nor adopt their anti-hero values.
