I have no idea how authentic mine was, and I don’t remember the taste very well. I was also surprised at what the British call “pudding”, so I am probably the under-cultured one here. I am just somewhat offended at a pie with the word meat, but no actual meat. Sort of like the Ritz “Mock Apple Pie”.

Pudding is kind of a general word to the Brits that can apply to lots of things; sometimes just any dessert.

(but Plum - or Christmas - Pudding is really good - especially with a boozy hard sauce. You can buy plum puddings ready-made; but it’s been years since our local grocery has had them, and we get them online.)
