KS MO border;

The storm and its 60-70 MPH Winds and tennis sized hail have passed. Lost power for several hours before the rain and lightening even arrived. The electrical utility workers came by in the daylight. Now, after the storm, houses are dark across the street.

Just now I was worried. I thought my house was on fire. I wondered if a lighting strike or power surge set my house on fire and as poking around for something smoldering.

I went outside, smoke and the smell of smoke was everywhere. Turned out that there were fires in counties west of here and the winds dragged all that smoke to the Kansas City area.

Could have been a lot worse and we could have ended up like Kentucky. (What happened to them was terrible!)

Glad you are alright. I am in southern WI. Been monitoring the storm line for several hours now. We are about to have the line move through here. Winds picked up a long time ago, as the night went on, so hoping for mercy on even worse wind as the line goes east over us. We have woods around us and the wind in the trees is howling even before the front goes through.
Power has been on so far.

😬

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Homestead Air Reserve Base has been given the all clear late Wednesday night after an evacuation order over a “damaged ordinance.”

A source briefed on the incident told CBS4’s Jim DeFede an explosive device became loose and “rolled” into an area where it should not be. The device did not explode, but fearing it could, parts of the base were evacuated.

The air base confirmed that, later tweeting, “Out of an abundance of caution, Homestead Air Reserve Base evacuated personnel from base due to an incident involving a damaged ordinance.”

I was trying to see if it was possible to tie it back to the Monkeywerks broadcast from yesterday, but can't. (Unless this is all just a cover story.)

Any Ordinance Mechs here? I am trying to visualize "ordinance" that rolls around on its own. Easier to imagine on a pitching carrier desk, but on a flat AFB? On a trolley or cart? Any suggestions?
