I believe the cutoff horsepower for this is around 18-22 (haven’t looked since proposed.
There is going to be an unintended consequence here as these are used in massive numbers on jobsites and emergency responses. Manufacturers or buyers are just going to boost the engines in question OVER the cutoff horsepower.
People race motorcycles with built Briggs and Stratton 2 cylinder riding mower engines developing near 200 horsepower. How hard do you think it will be to make the 8-12 HP Kohler in the camper, or 6500 KW job genny, push 20 HP?
Its gonna eat MORE gas and make MORE noise, but when it comes to engines Americans are going to say “CHALLENGE ACCEPTED” to this stupidity...
MY understanding is it also included the generators in RV’s that means vacation folks with MOTOR HOMES etc will not go to calif..they will lose Billions in revenue!
