I’ve seen several bell ringers. What I have NOT seen is anybody putting anything in their kettles.

What I have NOT seen is anybody putting anything in their kettles. Same here. They seem not so anxious to talk to people which is unusual to my experience. of course, I usually put some cash in the kettle (but not this year).

I'll be putting something in their kettles: a slip of paper that reads, "Get woke, go broke. No more donations from me!"
For many years I've donated $1 every time I pass a SA kettle, but no more.

We have them at Safeway, but I never put anything in. Give to local Union Gospel Mission that does excellent work in our community. Even gave them my old car.
