Woke Salvation Army surrendered without a fight

What once was a principles-focused Salvation Army has become an ideologically "woke" army, marching to the regressive whims of culture.

What once was a principles-focused Salvation Army has become an ideologically "woke" army, marching to the regressive whims of culture.

For generations, the Salvation Army embodied charity, compassion, and the hope of salvation to a broken world. Over the years, I've embraced the opportunity to volunteer for the Salvation Army by serving meals to the poor and needy and by gleefully ringing the Christmas bell for Red Kettle donations. I loved the many acts of broad and nonstop charity and goodwill the Salvation Army extended to all of humanity, as it was a reminder of the Gospel mission. The Salvation Army had honorable principles and stood reliably strong as an institution in my mind. Until now.

Salvation Army documents reveal that the organization has gone woke. Instead of appreciating all people groups and continuing on an unbiased and uncompromising mission to serve all people compassionately, the Salvation Army now thinks it's somehow okay to view people through the lens of "race." Somewhere deep in its leadership, the Army saw the enemy and embraced it.

Race consideration and connotations are an obvious outcome of Critical Race Theory (CRT), or adjunct theology (Liberation Theology, for instance). Viewing people by race or class is wholly antithetical to any organization committed to providing compassionate and unbiased services to any and all people or groups in need. Woke schemes see everything about human culture in one paradigm: "oppressors vs. oppressed" or "victimizers vs. victims." Without exception, the oppressors and victimizers are "White" by definition.

They withdrew the offending document, but my tithes will still be going elsewhere until I can see how this all shakes out.

That is called surrender.

You can be taken captive but are always looking for a way to escape -OR- you can surrender and join the other side.

I always felt good dropping a few bucks into the kettle; no more.

The Lefts tactics has always been to infiltrate groups and corporations and governments most effectively from the top. It’s been extremely effective for them. There’s not much left for them to takeover. That they’re down to organizations like the Salvation Army means that all that remains will be patriotic citizens.

to see if they return to their original mission.

Not likely. Their new mission is to destroy the organizations good works even if it means destroying the organization. Your effort to not fund them is OK with them even if means going out of business. Note: BSA destruction model.

Can you post the link to that information, please? At the SA site I went to, I only saw a bunch of videos. I’m not going to watch them if it’s printed somewhere. Thank you.

At the local Walmart today the bell ringer
was completely ignored. He was a 60ish white guy.
I almost felt bad for him.

Thanks so much for posting the link. I found the same flawed thinking as everywhere else. If I have a bad outcome, it’s because everyone is against me. Couldn’t possibly be anything else, ‘cause I’m never wrong, and I never do anything wrong.

Maybe the mortgages don’t go to folks in that neighborhood because the house is a bad risk - maybe, say, from vandalism, random violence, or drug traffic across the street?

Maybe the health risks and lack of care in that neighborhood are worse because no doctor short of John Wayne is brave enough to work there, especially if he has prescription narcotics on the premises.

I find it interesting that in the SA booklet, “culture” and “racism” are classified as equally artificial and wrong. In my view, racism is absolutely wrong, but culture is not arbitrary. It is a culmination of any group’s behavior. The way members of a community relate to each other and to outsiders is called “culture”.

Hostility to, or acceptance of others is one thing that helps define a community’s culture. Hostility may be based on skin color. That’s my definition of racism, whether it’s rednecks or gang-bangers. And please pardon me if I don’t want to hang out with a group of people who are hostile to me. Cultural considerations are the problem, not skin color.

I once wrote a letter to the editor (remember those?) condemning a practice that was going on within a certain group of people, and got three or four days worth of insane, childish rebuttal because I was RIGHT ON TARGET, and the group in question couldn’t handle it.

One comment that really got ‘em going? I wrote: “Look at the name at the bottom of this letter. My first name is Hebrew. My last name is popular among both blacks and whites. If you think you know the color of my skin just by reading my comments, you are part of the problem.”

You see - it was my CULTURE, my THINKING that they hated. They decided my skin color by looking at my ideas. The very idea that I might be their color and still disagreed with them sent them into irrational, explosive convulsions. Because anyone with “my skin color” is good, not bad.

I don’t hate people because they are a different color - THERE is your artificial, childish construct. I disagree with them because of how they behave. A great many people with whom I disagree are the same color I am. May God have mercy on us all.

Just received this from SA in email:

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas,

This special time of year is a welcome reminder of the things we are grateful for and for the power of service on behalf of those who are less fortunate. Without your support of time and generosity, The Salvation Army would not be able to serve 30 million people each year who are in need.

Despite that good work, you may be aware of some recent attacks on The Salvation Army that misrepresent our beliefs on race and racism. Some individuals and groups have attempted to mislabel our organization to serve their own agenda(s). They have claimed that we believe our donors should apologize for their skin color, that The Salvation Army believes America is an inherently racist society, and that our organization has abandoned its beliefs for one ideology or another.

We wanted you to hear from The Salvation Army directly that those claims are false, and they distort the very goal of our work. We invite you to read The Salvation Army’s full response to these claims here.

You can be sure that, despite these false claims, we remain undeterred in our mission because vulnerable Americans need our help and yours. We remain deeply grateful for the support of a generous public, people from all walks of life and from all parts of the country who help us meet human need wherever it exists. God bless you, and Happy Holidays.

If you have questions, please call Aaron Keegan at (901) 543-8586.

The SA bleated: “We wanted you to hear from The Salvation Army directly that those claims are false.”

Notice that the SA did not state _exactly_ _how_ the claims were false.

They could easily have done so with simple declarative statements such as:

“We do not judge anyone based on the color of their skin.”

“We treat everyone the same regardless of the color of their skin.”

“We oppose any policy, including Affirmative Action, that discriminates against anyone because of the color of their skin.”

They didn’t say those things because they don’t believe those things.

I appreciate your response for what you say is very true. Now SA is sending out fundraising letters and calling the accusations of the CRT training as false. What?? I have seen this course and read a big part of it and they say it is false!
