Four (4) classes of what, 45 minutes to an hour since the semester began? How many classes did he teach? That is a lot of students to remember which face to put to each name. Plus Trogan is probably gay and very woke, so hell, maybe they all do look alike to him.

Many professors use a seating chart to keep track of their students. Since the students came in late and weren’t in place, he knew the names but had a fifty-fifty chance of getting the right name to the right student.
