I know I should have done this a long time ago but... I need to ditch PayPal. Can my Freeper buddies suggest an alternative? Thanks
That sounds cool. Main reason I use Bitcoin as much as I can is I don’t like my CC number being on too many permanent ledgers.
Other reason is I try to provide as little business as possible to any company listed on Wall Street, but that’s more of personal issue : )
Look at Zelle if you’re looking to send money to friends and family.
They have some “new features” that involve leaving an account balance on PayPal. I was a little scared of using it this week because of that change. Luckily, at least for people you’ve already paid before, it seems to work the same as before.
No. Strike. Similar to Venmo but uses crypto (Bitcoin lightning network) for free transfers.
“I use cash app.”
I use that. And also Venmo.
I have too and I really miss coke because pepsi just isn’t the same.
virtual credit card works great.
Not to divert or hijack the thread, but why is this a Paypal problem? You should be going back to the merchant that sold you the item - they should be facilitating the return and providing you with a shipping label and a refund. If they won't, then you do a charge-back on the credit-card you used via Paypal (assuming that's how you're set up to pay via them).
I keep a separate debit card (Visa) for online purchases in an account with a low balance, so that if it is breached, they won’t get much. My bank also covers any fraudulent debit card charges, so there’s really no risk. I keep the account at around the same amount all the time & replenish when necessary. It’s separate from my regular checking/savings - in fact at a different bank. The bank notified me once of a possible fraudulent charge in the 10yrs I’ve been doing this. It’s worked well for me and I never have to worry about someone trying to charge thousands of dollars on the card, cuz there isn’t that much in the account to begin with. ; )
That sounds interesting.
NEVER use paypal unless you fund the usage with a credit card , in which case NEVER deal with paypal regarding any problem, but deal directly with the credit card company: they’ll pretty much always issue you an instant credit and leave it up to the seller to prove otherwise ...
I thought credit cards were all about paying for stuff?
How does it work when you want someone to pay YOU?
Here is a link which describes the virtual CC that I use:

Free Republic uses Paypal.
Thanks
I still use postage stamps. Drives the P.O. crazy.
Paypal tried to recover a payment i received in a car deal. I dropped them then and didn’t pay the charge. The car buyer convinced them the car wasn’t as advertised so they issued him a credit even though the buyer paid me #3,000 in cash after the deposit for the car when he picked it up. They never gave me a chance to rebut his claim. Goodbye Paypal and I use Zelle now.
I switched to Dr. Pepper (Diet). It doesn’t have that horrible aftertaste of so many diet drinks and after a few bottles, I like it better than Coke.
Thank You
