The 4-hour version of the Chinese film Red Cliff, directed by John Woo is very impressive. It is based on the battle of the Red Cliffs in 3rd century China, but is mostly based on the epic story The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It's one of the most impressive epics I have ever seen.
